✨ Overview

One of Egypt’s most unique and captivating destinations. Nestled deep in the Western Desert, close to the Libyan border, it’s a world apart from the bustling cities of the Nile Valley, offering a glimpse into an ancient way of life and a distinctive culture.

  • Ancient Roots: Siwa has been inhabited for millennia, with evidence of human settlement dating back to at least the 10th millennium BCE. It was a vital stop on ancient trade routes connecting Egypt with North Africa.
  • Oracle of Amun: Siwa gained immense prominence in ancient Egypt due to its famous Oracle of Amun (Greek: Zeus Ammon), located in the Temple of the Oracle (Temple of Aghurmi). This oracle was highly revered and consulted by pharaohs and rulers, most notably Alexander the Great in 331 BC, who sought confirmation of his divine status. The ruins of this temple are a major historical site today.

Fatnas Island Fatnas Island, also known as “Fantasy Island,” is a small, idyllic island located in the Siwa Oasis, Egypt. It’s situated in the salty Birket Siwa (Siwa Lake) and is accessible via a narrow causeway, approximately 6-13 km from Siwa Town.

Sunset Viewing: This is the primary activity on Fatnas Island. Visitors gather at the small cafes and restaurants on the island to enjoy the golden hour as the sun dips below the horizon.
